Every now and again I meet an evolved soul who tells me 'there is nothing we have to do, nowhere we have to go, nothing we have to be'. Ummm... huh?
Conversations With God author Neale Donald Walsche said these exact words to me in Hyde Park last time he was in Sydney… surfing royalty and film director Albe Falzon said the same thing to me last month as we talked about life while relaxing in a butterfly farm on the north coast of NSW. Many others have offered similar utterances in between.
I've always looked at them as though they're a little bit bonkers.
I mean, as far as I can tell, we live in a money economy and there are things that we definitely have to do if we are going to be able to pay the rent and buy the nourishing foods for Self and our loved one's little bellies. Right?
I'm pleased to say that the penny finally dropped for me while interviewing yoga coach Mark Breadner on stage at our Soul Session last month.
In the statement ~ there is nothing we have to do, nowhere we have to go, nothing we have to be ~ the operative words are have to.
What these wise souls have been communicating is that we do not have to work to pay rent, we do not have to put food on the table, we do not have to get up and go to your current work place each day.
At any point in your life you can walk away from your relationship to become single, walk away from your home to become homeless, walk away from your job to go gyspy, or your family to go solo… in fact, you have complete freedom to do whatever you want.
Just think about that for a minute. It's kinda liberating.
The trick, however, is to take the necessary steps required to cultivate a life that is a true reflection of your heart and soul's desire, a creation born of your own authentic love, your personal soul purpose, so that life becomes a calling, an invitation, an experience that you can not wait to wake up to each day.
When we stop and allow ourselves to go inwards to meet our true Selves, when we align our thoughts and behaviours with our true heart's desires, when we make decisions from this place of deep personal wisdom each day, then the have to just drops away.
Only then is the higher wisdom and deeper truth able to reveal itself... there is nothing we have to do, nowhere we have to go, nothing we have to be.
Instead, what emerges are things we want to explore, places we feel called to visit, and states of being we can be fully present and open-hearted within.
Thanks for the wise words Mark Breadner, Albe Falzon, Neale Donald Walsche and and every wisdom barer that came before them.
As we say at Soul Sessions, wisdom and knowledge mean nothing unless shared, and we are so glad you're all here to be part of the soul tribe at Soul Sessions.
When and where will we meet again?
Think, Feel & Grow Rich ~ March 23 live Soul Session on Sunday in Sydney
Breathing is probably the most familiar expression of the pulse of life.
For most of us, breathing is something that just happens in the background, with very little awareness on our part as it is innate and instinctual.
We don't have to learn how to breathe. We come into the world already doing it. But did you know that controlling the breath is one of the most effective ways of controlling how we feel?
When we practice conscious breathing, it becomes a powerful source of healing, with many positive effects on our body and on our energy levels.
The rhythm and the depth of your breath directly affects the state of your mind and the health of your body.
The Muladhara chakra (aka Root Chakra) is said to be located near the basal end of the spinal column and is tied to our feelings of physical awareness and comfort in many situations.
If healthy and open, you should feel emotionally well-balanced, sensible, stable and secure. You trust people around you for no reason, you feel present in what is happening right now, and connected to your physical body. If under-active, you will be fearful or nervous and experience unwelcoming feelings. If it's over-active, you may be materialistic, greedy and resentful of change.
Do yoga, walk around the block, or do some manual that keeps you active (could be just dancing around or even cleaning the house). These activities let your body become known to you, and will strengthen the chakra.
This means that you should connect with the ground, and feel it beneath you. To do this, stand up straight and relaxed, put your feet shoulder width apart, and slightly bend your knees. Move your pelvis forward a little, and keep your body balanced, so that your weight is evenly distributed over the soles of your feet. Then sink your weight forward. Stay in this position for several minutes.
After grounding yourself, sit cross-legged. Let the tips of your thumb and index finger touch gently, in a peaceful motion. Concentrate on the Root chakra and what it stands for, at the spot in between the genitals and the anus.
All this time, let yourself relax, still thinking about the chakra, its meaning and how it does or should affect your life.
Imagine a very powerful energy radiating it: it slowly opens showing four red petals full of energy.
Breathe in while contracting your perineum, the muscle between the genitals and the anus, hold your breath and breathe out as you release the perineum.
Headaches can be caused by a variety of reasons, some of which including tension in your neck, tight shoulders, and/or back pain.
Yoga can be a beneficial therapeutic tool for relieving headaches brought on by muscle tension and stress.
These yoga poses are designed to gently stretch and open those areas, while circulating blood to your head. So, Instead of reaching for pain relieving tablets next time you have a headache, try these yoga poses first to see if you can beat it naturally.
Sit in a comfortable position, place your right hand on the left side of your head and gently tilt your head to the right. Hold for a few breaths and then switch sides. Repeat on both sides one more time.
It takes the pressure off your hands and wrists by having you rest on your forearms. Take deep breaths while in this pose, and just let your head hang between your shoulders.
Lie on your back with your knees bent, holding onto your thighs or the outside edges of your feet. You can slowly rock from side to side to increase the stretch in your hips and lower back, and to gently lull your mind into a state of relaxation.
You need a wall and a blanket or some pillows. Sit as close as you can to the wall with your bum and lower back propped on the folded blanket. Spread your legs wide in a straddle position and relax your arms out to the sides. Just close your eyes and breathe, staying as long as you'd like.
In January 2014, 11 beautiful members from the Soul Sessions community joined us for a 12 week journey into the heart of their soul goals and the true nature of how to call them in.
They all knew "something" in their reality needed to change, that there was a hole somewhere in their soul that needed their love and attention, and that a life filled with more love, connection, freedom and good life abundance had to be available to them, somehow.
All they needed was the right understanding of how the Universe actually works, and the right loving mentoring to support them in the behavioural changes necessary for the desired shifts to occur.
Read on to get a sense of the results they achieved and their experience from week to week...
"Soul Goal Mentoring Group is so personally touching that I almost have a problem labeling it a course.
There are no timelines to reach your goal. There is no competition. No wrong answers. I set my own path. It is an exploration of my own consciousness through the introduction of techniques and evidence that have made me aware of the ability I have to rewire my own brain and reprogram my habits.
It has taught me that with consistency I am more than capable.
It has shown me the importance of putting myself into a elevated state to achieve my goals, create, and most importantly connect… and connected I have with the world around me and my gorgeous Soul Goalers.
The sharing and support of the group is hugely uplifting! I'm pushing through 'just surviving' to 'creating everyday magic'. It's a much nicer way to live. Oh... and I also quit smoking (and we still have 5 weeks to go).
Thank you Soul Goal!
"After attending my first Soul Session a couple of weeks before I knew that anything that Eloise was running would be AMAZING and I wanted in!
Soul Goal group sessions are my absolute favourite time of the week! A time to listen, learn, share, love and expand. Each week I wait expectantly for the home-play to come through as I can't wait for the next piece of the puzzle in this exciting jigsaw of a journey.
I feel as if this is what I have been searching for, for such a long time and finally things are starting to fall into place and make sense to me. Do not miss the opportunity to take part in the Soul Goal Mentoring Group, it will change your life! :)
I've known Eloise for a good few years now and have loved her and Soul Sessions, so when I saw she was venturing into mentoring, I jumped at the chance.
My soul goal? It resonated with me as a deep longing, but it felt far away and separate, obscured by doubt and misadventure and the daily distractions of life.
What hooked me was the combining of cutting edge science and spirituality, and Justine's amazingly engaging style with profound and far-reaching information. She knows it, she lives it and she communicates it with skill and sensitivity. And she's funny too, a wickedly winning combination.
Despite all the courses I've done, the groups attended, the techniques tried and soon abandoned, the books read, this was a new way of synthesising things for me. Each week I have found myself amazed at the dots connecting.
It's not been easy for me, don't get me wrong. I'm head-centred and I think, think, think, my way around things. It's been challenging to have that deeply entrenched habit challenged. But, I find myself, week nine into the process, fully immersed, free to own all my doubts and difficulties, uplifted and supported by the beautiful group, and I know I'm making real progress. And it's not my head telling me that!
It's been a wonderful experience and I know my Soul Goal will be met, and my life changed. Hooray!
"Anytime spent with Eloise and her divine wisdom lifts my game, and getting to hang out with people who vibrate at a higher level hoping some of it may rub off on me.
I love Joe Dispenza's work the next best thing to spending time with the man himself is spending time with his friend and colleague, so I was really looking forward to meeting Justine too. Juzzy is the real deal and I am so grateful to her for all the very hard work she puts into preparation.
She facilitates the group beautifully too. There have been a couple of emotive moments she diffused where egos could have had a 'field day'. Not everyone can do that so seamlessly. Just brilliant Justine.
Both Eloise and Justine's responses are always carefully considered and insightful too.
I learn a lot. I have done lots of courses and am very familiar with many of the concepts. The group is a lovely synthesis and reminder of so much. I love the challenge of the home play and am always curious about its content. It is a beautiful gift every week. I'll miss that the most.
Each Soul in the group is a precious reflection of something profound I love the honesty and rawness of each journey and have to smile at the very strong overlaps in the challenges. Such beautiful courageous women. It is challenging, dignified, loving and gentle.
With Love and gratitude Debbie xx
The Soul Goal Mentoring Group was offering me the chance to really make some significant changes in my life and I would have the support and encouragement to see me through the challenges. I didn’t hesitate, in fact I became adamant that this would be it for me.
I have participated in many Self-development courses and studies throughout my life, from Landmark to meditation programs, and none have resonated more than the philosophy behind Soul Goal. The promise of a deep understanding of the theories and principles that will lay the right foundation for my soul goal manifestation, coupled with coaching in the creation of new habits, and scientifically proven strategies and support for instilling new subconscious programs to help me realise my soul goal…. Bring it on I thought!!
The stress of a fractured family, work pressure and my own emotional struggles had taken their toll over the last 12 months and I was fully ready to turn that all on its head. And that’s exactly what happened after the very first night, when I met these eleven amazing women who I was to share the next twelve weeks learning and creating with.
From day 1, mentor Justine Ruszczyk and Eloise delivered on their promises, and I walked away with an immediate and significant shift in my life. And each subsequent week has delivered more tools, techniques and theories for me to practice and implement into a life that is every day becoming more filled with joy, love and optimism.
I feel as though I am now truly beginning my life. No longer am I driving on auto pilot. I’m steering with a precise and intimate knowledge of exactly where I am going, and exactly the gears, acceleration and modifications that I need. I feel divinely empowered to fully accept where I have come from, take full responsibility for where I am going, and pursue it all with passion and joy.
My intentions for my relationships are now clear, and the responses I am receiving match those intentions. My children, my ex-husband, the people I work with, my friends and family. I am travelling positively with all the significant people in my life.
I am now fully aware of my innate ability and power to be kind to myself, my body and my mind. I love who I am now and who I have always been, regardless of what has happened in the past, regardless of how I look physically and regardless of the worry I once had about how I think others see me. I intimately understand how amazing it can feel to be working towards my soul goal. I am in charge now!!
However, don’t be fooled – the Soul Goal Mentoring Group is not a walk in the park – there is hard work and lots of practice, and it takes balls to really look at yourself and decide to be vulnerable and ultimately powerful. To stop being a victim and start being the creator of your own destiny.
But nothing could be more worth it. I can't recommend the Soul Goal Mentoring Group enough. It's worth it and it's AWESOME!!"
My goodness, we had a good time at Soul Sessions on Sunday, connecting and sharing wisdoms about life, John Lennon, Buddhism and more with special guests Jenny Kee and ex-monk of Buddhist awesomeness Dorje Walker.
There was so much awesome connectedness around... some planned... some spontaneous... including a very special pop up performance by the enchanting chanter Nadav Khan. I can't recommend his album OM enough if you're looking for some calming and conscious tunes to float around in your home or office. It's been on repeat at Soul Sessions HQ all week as I work.
Humble as pie, however, Nadav was keenest to introduce us all to a different album he has been collaborating on with Sydney based songwriter APPLEONIA, aka his wife Jessica Chapnik Kahn. It's called ‘OH’ (OM & OH... so cute!) and was an experiment that Ben Lee and Appleonia began recording in Lee’s home in Los Angeles.
It features musical contributions by many other amazing artists including Ian Ball (Gomez), Nic Johns (The Motels), El May and of course Nadav Kahn... which answers to the question posed in the subject line of this blog.
And here comes the BEST bit... you can download it here FOR FREE here now!
And the bit that is EVEN BETTER than THE BEST bit I mentioned above, is that with every download, Vittoria Coffee will donate the equivalent of 10 meals to OzHarvest, the charity that rescues excess food from restaurants and other food outlets and delivers it to vulnerable Australians.
Which means, when you download OH, you personally will be helping to feed 10 hungry Aussies just by clicking on the link below. If you alone can do that, imagine what the many, many thousands of us who are connected through Soul Sessions can do together with just one click? The mind boggles!
"This model is so fun for me," says Appleonia.
"Everyone gets to be a part of a generous process. I get to share my music, Vittoria Coffee essentially buys you an album, OzHarvest feeds more people, and audiences get to receive and give by downloading the record."
‘OH’ is available from Appleonia’s website for a limited time only and I am so very proud to be supporting this initiative through Soul Sessions... especially knowing that Nadav has put his energy into it too.
I was so grateful to have Nadav and his beautiful sounds at Soul Sessions last Sunday. It's the talent, presence and generosity of so many people that make session days so beautiful.
So, I do hope you find the value in downloading album OH for free, so together we can support Nadav and his wife Appleonia in making more beautiful music, and even if just a percentage of you choose to download, we as a Soul Sessions collective can perhaps support more than 10, 20 or even 50,000 hungry Aussies to have food in their bellies.
It all starts here with 1 click! Om. Oh. Om. And now one big open-hearted Ahhhhhhh to finsih off with :)
Love. Love. Love.
Oh my goodness. I've said it.
Along with the true loves and beautiful relationships that she has had (and lost tragically) throughout her life, Jenny Kee bedded John Lennon, Keith Richards and Eric Clapton. Whoa! It's true!
In preparation for my interview with Jenny at this Sunday's Soul Session, invited for her later life experience as a dedicated practitioner of Tibetan Buddhist, I've been reading her autobiography, aptly titled A Big Life.
And boy, has she had a big life.
She is perhaps best-known for designing the koala jumper that Princess Di wore when she as pregnant (pic right). But that is only part of it.
The young Jenny was a wild, creative member of Sydney's avant garde collective. She was snapped by the paps for the social pages of newspapers, invited to party privately with the world's biggest bands, she hitch hiked to Darwin on a whim at 3am, ended up at an after dinner party orgy, and set off for London to get away from it all and advance her creative career in fashion. Such was life. ... ...READ MORE
This is the third of a 3 part post about my battle with Buddha. If you missed part 1 and 2 of the story, catch up here first:
Part 3 starts here:
By this stage, the nun had me completely and utterly captivated with her non-judgement, understanding, love and supportive wisdom.
“Darling girl. Replace that big Buddha image with God if that is true and good for you. Or with love. Worship love. Chant to love. Just give your words and actions over to a force that is good and pure.”
It was then, with the help of this beautiful Buddhist nun, that I realised that we’re all just trying to align ourselves with a force that is good. A force that is bigger than us, more powerful than us, more knowing and wiser than us, more pure than us as an extension of the karmic forces that have been before us.
A force that is also within us, because ... ...READ MORE
Part 2 starts here:
Waking in the pitch black, to the clang of brass bells swinging under the steady hands of the Buddhist nuns in the hallway the next morning, was a new experience.
4am was time to rise, robe up and shuffle along to the temple’s altar for two hours of chanting… in Chinese.
The day before I’d had to make a big decision about whether to shave off my long locks in a Buddhist act of non-attachment.
Decidedly happy to be a novice in the enlightenment game, I bypassed the clipper’s chair, taking my vow of silence for the week instead to become one with my fellow wisdom seekers.
Entering the temple for chanting each morning, it was clear we were now in sacred territory. Staring right back at us as we lined up obediently in pews, was the most gigantic golden Buddha statue I had ever seen. It was majestic, ornate and beautiful.
Beauty aside, the Chinese words we were invited to chant on loop were awkward and meaningless to me. But I persisted... like a good Buddhist in training.
Our days then opened up to sitting and walking meditations, karma yoga practices of sweeping paths, scrubbing floors, pulling weeds etc to better the beautiful temple grounds, and our group meal gatherings in silence.
As a seeker of wisdom and knowledge, my favourite part of the day came each afternoon, when we would settle in for dharma classes with the Buddhist nuns under a big whispering gum tree. It was there we were allowed to break our silence to ask questions about Buddha and his teachings.
Buddha became enlightened after meditating for 49 days under a Bodhi tree, which is a large and sacred fig tree. I wondered whether... ...READ MORE
Like a bride getting cold feet on her wedding day, I was freaking out about my relationship with Buddha just one day before I was to be ordained as a Buddhist monkess.
It was more than 15 years ago now, but I remember the experience as if it were only yesterday. I had travelled south from Sydney to study Buddhism at the Nan Tien Temple, the biggest Buddhist temple in the southern hemisphere.
"Nan Tien" in Chinese, literally means "Paradise of the South". It is a branch temple of Fo Guang Shan, a Buddhism rooted in the Mahayana tradition which emphasises that Buddhahood is within everyone's potential reach.
Soon to be twenty years of age, I was still kinda fresh out of the Catholic girls school education system. I’d worked hard to get the best possible TER score in my final year. I wanted to achieve in life, to tick all the right boxes, but was struggling on the inside as I tried to figure out who I was, what my place in the world “should” be and how to be happy in general... ...READ MORE
Somewhere along the journey the air had turned to tropical thick, the vegetation had become lush and beautiful, eleven shades of green. Heavy grey clouds were hanging overhead that threatened to crack open above the 18,000+ campers in Woodford's tent city, with little warning. There was a moodiness about.
A road trip is as much about good tunes as it is good scenery, and for most of the trip we'd been listening to the much anticipated and soon-to-be released soundtrack to surf movie 'Spirit of Akasha - A Celebration of Morning of the Earth'.
We'd been looping between track 1 and 5 a lot... 5 being Matt Corby's 'What the devil has made' and suddenly, I was met by the feeling that I’d like to interview him for the Soul Sessions tribe.
He seems like a guy with lots of heart and emotional depth and he was headlining the first night of the festival.... ...READ MORE
We're on a bit of a road trip this weekend - it's so full of awesome music and I'm feeling the need to take a moment to share a little piece of it!
Due to the coding of this acoustic clip (directly above), it is only viewable on certain tablets, so, I've included the youtube version above as well that everyone will be able to see, no probs :)
The three of us left Sydney yesterday and travelled north for a few hours in the afternoon sun. It was a Ben Harper Fest. So, sooo nice.
Then, this morning I woke up to this awesome acoustic version of Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes… I have no idea where they performed it but Charlie found it at Nova FM online. What a treat!
Later today, we're moving on into the Hunter for an evening of Alicia Keys and John Legend in the wineries with fabulous friends.
Hope you're weekend is filled with special moments too… whether that be through music, good friends, good foods, magic meditations, or any other expression of love that is floating around in your world right now.
With the expert guidance of The Wish game creator Lousie Laffey, it was inspiring to be in the energy of so many people saying 'yes' to their deepest desire.
Below, you'll find a list of Sessioners precious, precious dreams.
Before I had a chance to save the list to my blog back end, my computer had a temperamental brain snap and the list was suddenly gone. Poof! Gone.
So I trotted out to look for the paper on which Sessioners had written their wishes so I could write them up again to share with all, and after a good amount of hunting, this is where I found them...
Gasp! There they were... all scrunched up and sitting at the top of our garbage bin.
On Tuesday this week, I cried at the Melbourne Cup. Why?
It can all be traced back to the fact that I'm a die-hard, massive fan of supporting people to move in the direction of their dreams, and most importantly, to have their dreams come true... in the flesh... for realsy.
At Soul Sessions we share the wisdoms and knowledge that keeps you focused on what's really important in life, connects you with your soul purpose, helps you get clear about what you truly want, inspires you to heal old wounds, and move forward confidently in the creation of your dream life.
My good friends and family will tell you that I'm so connected to the dreams come true experience for others that it actually makes me cry. Like... all the time.

There is nothing wrong with wanting a nice house, cool car, big bank balance, awesome wardrobe, rockin' shoe collection, a sexy career and more. In fact, I do hope, with all of my heart, that one day I am able to live in a home that is finished to my absolute aesthetic perfection... with beautiful artworks hanging from the walls (a Karla Dickens would be fabulous dear God); a 25m lap pool down the side of the house; a lushious garden full of Costus Barbatus, Zingzibar Champagnes, rainbow Heliconias and bamboo; and an Audi Q3 in the driveway please Universe... or a vintage VW combi... or how about both?
You see, "my" Audi (I'm SM.A.R.T) really is a very welcome change to my little black 2004 Holden Cruze, which is loved up, but dinged, a little scratched and, in truth, getting a bit too tired to do all the road travel I still have in my heart. It just doesn't suit me, my partner nor my growing boy's needs anymore.
And, in truth, I feel that I would... ...READ MORE

Every Wednesday morning, I wake up at 5.45am, tie the fluoro laces on my trendy runners, and head out for a jog with my good friend Cherelle. I love our ritual run hour each week, because while keeping fit, we stay in regular contact, bounce ideas around about the world, and figure out how best to "be" in the centre of it all.
Last week, as we strode through the bush looking out across the Sydney Harbour sunrise, we talked about a scathing post she'd seen on Facebook the day before. It was full to the brim of blame, hate and good old fashioned finger pointing. Eww, bleuh! Ptteu! When people publicly criticise others for a "wrong" in their world, it's just kinda... well, ugly. Non? And don't think I'm on my High Horse here. I've been guilty of it too, more recently than I'd like to admit (offline).
So, what would happen if ...READ MORE
